I love family history research even though at times I want to toss the hundreds of papers and documents in a closet and walk away. It seems as though just when I start to give up I find another clue to run down or a cousin will pop up and say ask Linda she has a lot of the history. and off I go looking again.
I think one of the most interesting discoveries I made was about myself- I found I like reading history books and old newspapers. There is so much to be found in them when looking for clues
And sometimes you need the history to sort out the clues.
