The name McGuigan caught my attention. The McGuigan's I'm directly related to were from Northern Ireland and came to the U.S. in the 1840's. They eventually settled in Dubuque County, Iowa were a branch of that family homesteaded into Dakota Territory in what eventually became South Dakota. If any of this is familiar or you are seeking information, feel free to contact me as I have a considerable history of the McGuigan family that came to Dakota Territory.
