I use a debit card with only enough money in it to cover what I spend on overseas transactions, topping up as necessary. Scotland's People is a very safe site that I have been using for several years now with no trouble, and they keep a record of what you pay for so you can see it again later. At today's exchange rate 6GBP would cost you about 10dollars for which you could get 5 certificates or census pages and 5 pages of results. Pretty good value?

However if he was born in Edinburgh his father may be David Tainsh (Tansh) a tailor who married in 1759 and again in 1772. He had a daughter Margaret who married a Robert Duncan in 1795. Do you have any idea of Robert's occupation?
