Louis Sokol has not received any gifts yet
I am a fairly new researcher. I have quite a few documents from my Dad including a handwritten family tree. We belonged to the Glassberg Friend & Family Society which unfortunately disbanded in the 1990s. They had plots in New Mount Carmel Cemetery and the other day I was thrilled to find a list of 196 society members interred there. Reading about landsmanschafts gave me that idea and it was so helpful. The list includes locations and death dates that will be very useful. I live in DC but grew up in Queens so one day I want to return and visit all of my relatives. I will try to get photos of the headstones for more info in the meantime.
I find it thrilling to find new info about my ancestors. My grandmother's vessel from Europe to NYC, addresses where family members lived, life events I had no knowledge of, etc. There are many websites that are educational and have tremendous resources for me to learn. It is really overwhelming yet I am thankful that they exist to provide what I need. It is a journey and I am all in.
