My grandmother was from St Jacques but i dont think she or her father Joseph or mother Ozene were originally from there. They moved to Lowell, Mass. and eventually to St. Jacques. My gma was a Mill Girl in Lowell where she met my gpa.
I suspect they were metis from pics I have. There are extensive Gagnon listings in Gail Morins references. I am sifting thru the names. There are so many with Name Joseph Gagnon in all the refs. The hunt is on.
I am very interested in the name Gagnon. My paternal greatgrandma was Gagnon whose father was named Joseph. Will look for yours as well. There are numerous Gagnon metis families.
my mothers maiden name was gagon.. her father was arthur joseph gagnon.. my grandfather.. i knew very little of him. he was born 19oo/s and died in 1942.. in the war. i found out in the burma/ war. he was from sasketwen.. my maiden name was fecteau .. all my family came from quebec and france. all from gillette and pierre fecteau.
