Mel,
Tom lives in Washington, Il. in Tazwell(?) cty.
Have you been to the Highland cty, Va site at WWW.USGENWEB.com? Go to Virginiathen to Highland Cty's site. They have listings of all the Malcolm's and their marriages. Great site but has a few mistakes. That is where I first found my family line.
Also have you checked the "Chalkley History of the Scotch/Irish in Virginia"? That can be found online at WWW.USGENWEB.com go to Virginia and then to the Augusta Cty site. Tons of Malcolm's listed there with interesting historical info. Three volumes indexed. These are important sites for anyone researching Malcolm/Malcom/Malckolm/Melcum/etc,etc genealogy. All of those spellings and more are us.

Mel,
I understand that Tom Malcom took it upon himself to answer your note. I had expected him to respond directly to me. Sorry if that was an imposition. Tom is retired and lives south of Chicago, not far from Peoria, in Illinois in case you are actually interested in going through his files in person. Otherwise it will clearly take awhile for Tom to work his way to the stored files. In the meantime, have you read through the Chalkley History of the Scotch/Irish in Augusta County Virginia? Our Malcolms are mentioned in there many times starting about 1740 onward into the 1800's. Let me know if you need info on where to find this treasure of online info.

Mel,
Too bad that Janice Malcolm died about a year ago because she was a genuine Malcolm/Malcom researcher who had every Malcolm indexed. She left a treasure trove of Malcolm lines in boxes and file cabinets. I do email with her husband Tom Malcom who lives in Illinois. He has been wondering what to with all her stuff. I have suggested that he ship it to the library in Monterey, Va. The only close repository of Highland, Va genealogy. If he still has the files, he might be able to give you exact information. I will send him a note and ask about your line. I know for sure that she has the line in her files. I have seen it refered to many imes from people asking for her help. The name Mary Leake has come up often.
As for my Joseph Sr. and George, sites keep listing Joseph as George's son. It was Janice Malcom who discovered the will of Joseph naming George as his "unkle, a soldier". So, it remains an unsolved mystery. I often leave messages at sites stating this fact but no one seems to change this important bit of misinformation. We still don't know who Joseph's father was, nor consequently, who was George's brother:-) We do know that George was mentioned in George Washington's letters as one of he soldiers given a land grant for his service. He was at the battle of Fort Necessity with Washington. So all we know for sure is that he is the uncle of your Sammuel and my Joseph Sr.
My line of Malcolm's is:
Russell Malcolm (my father)
Alonzo (Lonnie) Malcolm
Joseph Pascal Malcolm (called Pass)
Robert Malcolm
Joseph Malcolm (The senior one)
????? (brother of George the soldier)
I'll get back to you soon as I hear from tom Malcom about what's happened to his wife's research.

Mel,
Hello again. The note you sent me has diappeared off my page. You had left me your email address and a comment about being from the same line of Malcolms. If I recall, you mentioned coming from Sammuel Malcolm's line. He was the brother of my Joseph Malcolm, Augusta/Highland cty, Va.I do have quite a bit of information on the Malcolm lines and am in contact with another of Sammuel's decendents. Could you please leave me your email address again and I can answer any queries. Sorry for the delay.

My great grandmother, Mrs. Susan Caroline Malcolm Woollen is in the 1890's book "Lee Family of Virgibnia" by Edm. Jennings Lee because her daughter Mrs. Elizabeth "Muttie" Woollen Lee of Winston-Salem wed Henry Lee, son of Charles Carter Lee, older brother of Gen. Robert Edward Lee, Sr., CSA. He parents were Pvt. James Landreth Malcolm, CSA musician, and Elizabeth "Betty" Page Malcolm of Guilford Co., N.C., died Winston-Salem. What is you Malcolm lineage? The one from Augusta Co., Va.? My Christians, Russells, Thompsons, Hendersons, are from there. Jim Miller, Southport, N.C.
