I have a lot of information about Joseph Wood (1755-1836) but have not been able to determine his parents. My ancestor is his son Benjamin Wood (198-1873) who married Elsey Hoyt (1794-1873). The book 'St John Genealogy' by Orline Alexander has Benjamin and Elsey as the parents of Joseph and Benjamin as son of Joseph. However, the New Canaan Historical Society has the original notes for this 1907 book and the Wood information came from a letter sent by Edwin Wheat. The letter does not include parents for Joseph Wood. I believe that the typist made an error in listing Benjamin as both child and parent of Joseph Wood.

I also am looking for information about Joseph Wood (1755 - 1836) who lived in New Canaan , Conn before moving to Walton (Delaware County) New York. How do you know his birth date?
Do you have a copy of Edwin Weat's book about the descendants of Joseph Wood?
