My Shaffer is my mother's, father. His father was "Sam Shaffer" d May 1890. My grandfather was Ralph Shaffer (he didn't have a middle name), b July 16, 1890, d August 17. 1974. Ralph's mother was Dolly "Bloom" Carson. Bloom was her mother's maiden name and Carson is her adopted family's name. Her mother's name was Maria and adopted family was Benjamin Carson and Leah Ashenfelter. Leah was Dolly's grandmother's sister on her mother's side. I have nothing else on the Shaffer history. My mother had 11 brothers and sisters. So I have that information and all their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have not been able to go back any more on my grandfather and great grandfather. My mom's oldest sister has also been working on this. Ralph has one older half sister and three younger half sisters and they don't remember their mother talking about a Sam Shaffer. I don't even know if they were married or not.
