Tithecott (spelt several ways even now) and Hembury are in the south of teh parish - about 3 miles from the village itself. There are Johns at Watertown, Buckland Brewer in 1841 but I can't odentfy this now. Ther's a Watertown in the neighboring parish of Landcross but I don't think this is the same. I'm happy to try and meet up when you are here. I shan't know until nearer the time when I will be working that week but I am sure we can sort something out.
There certainly were Johns here in the 1800s. Not sure if there are any now although there are some in nearby villages - don't know if they'd be related to you or not. Happy to show you round Buckland Brewer if you get in touch nearer to your visit and I'm not away.
