Hello Oliver -
Do come & join the Oxfordshire group - and you might be interested in joining Oxfordshire Family History Society www.ofhs.org.uk too - though you can come to our meetings for free if you'd like to see who we are! There's a meeting tomorrow, Monday - maybe see you there!

I only know that there were HERRINGs in Ickford around 1730 up until about 1800 (and probably after that) but have not done any indepth research on the family - sorry.
William WHICHELLO, my great grandfather, married Mary HERRING. William's parents were John WHICHELLO and Hester HERRING, but haven't worked out the connection yet.
