Overcome one, Encounter another

Well, now that I have tracked down relatives I'm anxious to find out more. Only to run into another brick wall (my head hurts). I am looking for anything for Minnie Myrick (Myrack). Born in Texas December 19, 1879. She married Milas Lemay in Bowie County, Texas, June 1, 1894. She died in November, 1953. This would be my Great Grandmother on my mom's dad's side. I believe Minnie had a sister named Susie Ann or Susie Anna. I have tracked down census records for 1910, 1920 and 1930 for Minnie and… Continue

A breakthrough...

There's nothing like having a breakthrough. Yes, I have located cousins!!! These are cousins from my paternal grandfather's side of the family - Woohoo!

I can't erase the smile from my face, this is awesome. I can't wait to talk more with them. Hopefully, they have pictures that I don't have. Ohhhh, the possibilities!

Another brick wall for me...

Since I can't tear down my brick wall on my mom's side, I figured I would take a crack at my dad's family. Which, by the way, I know very, very little. I guess, I will start with the parents of my grandmother, Rosa Ward (born 12/13/10). She died in Wisconsin, 7/5/63. Rosa was born in Mississippi. I don't know their names. She married Chapman (or Chatman) Myers and they had one son George (my father). She later married Jackson Tripp (I believe in Wisconsin). She had a sister, but I'm not sure of… Continue

Pam, your pictures are beautiful. I wish I had some like that. How lucky to have such pictures. I have one of my ggf on my mom's side.
As much as I hate to say this, your ggparents were born before the civil war, and Kentucky did have slaves. On one of the slave census, there is an owner named Miller in Lebanon, and he has a small boy age 5 that would coincide with your Henry Miller. If both Henry and Mahala were slaves then you may have to try other methods to find them. Many took the last name of their owners. Do you know if they were? I know there were free and not free.
I have looked for any sign of them, and so far nothing. I have a couple of things more to try, so hopefully something will turn up.
Do you know anything about Henry's family, no matter how small. Even the littlest detail can mear the difference between sucess and not.
Never give up, hopefully your family will be found. C

Pam, I'm in Salt Lake researching. I plan to take a couple of hours and look to see if I can find Mahala and Henry. i would like a little more info. Do you know when Molly left Kentucky for Wisconsin? What was the date of her death and birth? I believe the Miller's had a son, as grandchildren with the same last name was on the 1900 census. Do you know if that is true?
I have to get to work right now, so I'll do some sluthing for you this afternoon.
