Patrice,

My name is Robert Brum.  My father was John, son of George and Charlotte who were Volga Germans I believe based on my research who emigrated to the United States in the early part of the 20th century.  My grandmother Charlotte (nee Maul) passed in 1952, my grandfather George in 1971 and may father (his son) and all of his siblings have since passed.  It appears that it has been quite some time since you have visited this site but by chance if you happen to see my message I would be very interested in talking more to you about our shared family history.  Thank-you very much.  Bob Brum

Hi Patrice - I saw you had logged into chat today but left shortly after I arrived. Looks like you may have some Pennsylvania German surnames. My PA Germans are Wolford Wohlford and variations, Snook, Kleckner, Koch, Bartels, Kraemer and Kleffman. Have any of those? I specialize in Wolford-Wohlford etc. research. I live in York Co PA. Please come back to chat again. There are also some scheduled chats on various genealogy subjects as well as trivia and paranormal.

My Grandmother was a Houck. Her Name was Kathryn Stevens Houck. The Houcks are from North Hampton. I have been able to trace back as far John Houck Born in 1779 and Died in 1856 in Lower Mount Bethel Northampton. He married Elizabeth Muller (Miller). Do you have any more information on these Houcks.

Hello Patrice. At a quick look, your Jacob Myers/Mires probably born 1760-1770. First child born 1789. Second child Abijah born 1791. Also Jacob named a son Abijah. So that is probably the correct name. Jacob's father would probably have been born 1730 or so. Records before about 1795 or so in Sussex County are very sparse. Your only hope of confirming Abijah the right age/time is probably land records (deeds, mortgages, road book, etc.) at Sussex County courthouse or on film. There are some early church records. Some for Walpack church were printed by NYG&B. Would check with Sussex County Historical Society to see if they have a family folder. Some early records had the name spelled Mires. Many early Sussex Co. families left records in Orange Co. NY, so be sure to check there. Also, Walpack bordered PA. In mid/late 1700's that would have been Northamton co. Marx Room at Easton Public Library has excellent genealogy collection, including many early church/cemetery records which are well-indexed.

Wish I could help in person, but am living in KY now. Good luck with your research. Sharon

Hi, Patrice,

How nice to hear from you! The McPeek line is on my husband's side- his paternal grandmother was Mary McPeek, born in 1874 and died in West Orange, NJ in 1964. Her parents were Neil Francis McPeek and Julia Martin. Mary (Mamie) married John Healy in 1907, and they lived in Orange and West Orange.

My McFadden is Ellenrose (Nellie) McFadden, born 1879 in Hoboken,NJ. Her father was Thomas McFadden and her mother was Margaret McCarthy. Nellie died in 1946 in Jersey City.

Does any of this match to any of your research?
