Olyette Ellis died 28 November 1923 daughter of Hiram Smith and Lydia McGowan.

NOW. I dont know if you have done any research with this system before but it does not always tell you everything.

so to get the full record you might want to order the film number 1316810 from your local LDS Family History Center. for $6.50 if will tell you why the person transcribed it as that.

Also remember that you can never trust with all certainty anything on death records I have found so much false information on death records. sometimes they are worse than the census records.

but sometimes the open up a whole new set of tools to use as well.

if you cant order it from a Local Family History center the record is also located in Fillmore County Court House and they should be able to make a copy for you are type out a certificate of death.

Genealogist found another Martin marrying in the same church a year or two before, by the name of Mathew Martin, born circa 1825, marrying a Jane McGann/McGowen. He believed Hannah and Mathew were siblings. Both couples relocated to Davenport Iowa around 1859 and lived near each other. I found a Robert McGowen living next door to them, so I am thinking he was Jane's brother. If memory serves, there was also a McGowen as a godparent.

His eldest son spent some time in DC during the Depression and did some genealogy research (no records of his search exist) but his decendants tell me that he found something about the American Indian connection and that we've been here since the Revolutionary War and that they'd be eligible to be DARS. You are from Group 3! thats an awesome find in itself. You now know for certain you come from an English Smith family.

My best Idea would be to start finding the Immigrant ancestors of the other 5 or 6 Smiths that match you perfect or 34/37 and try to find the common ancestor between them.

im from group 56 and we know our common ancestor there is also 3 others in different projects that match us and we know our common ancestor for all of us but 1. hoping to find the common ancestor of Randolph Smith and Jacob Smith.

Im in the E haplogroup though so I cant help you out by comparing my line but WOW!!!

I do want to let you know that at 37 markers in my own family we have a common ancestor in 1802 and match of 35/37 also a common ancestor in 1826 has a match of 35/37.

I see your Hiram dead end is in Vermont one of your 25/25 matches is from Vermont... have you looked into his line?

Have you noticed you match perfect 37/37 to the francis smith line that came from england about 150 years before your Hiram was born?

I assume you are correct about the Vermont birth for Hiram. but Olyettes death record states her father was born in Canada...
