MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR REV. JACOB LOCKE By Florence Edwards Gardiner (her father was Cyrus Edwards )

My father's article, "The Neglected Grave of a Great Man" attracted much attention, and some friends and relatives set to work to remedy the condition.
On Saturday, October 6, 1934, exercises were held in Glasgow honoring the Rev. Jacob Locke. The remains of himself and his wife had been removed from the place my father described, and had been place on the lot of the late Rev. Nat G. Terry in the Glasgow Cemetery, in accordance with the wishes of the late Terry's relations.
Rev. Terry had been a worthy successor of Rev. Locke; his ministry immediately followed that of Locke and was largely in the same region.
On this occasion an appropriate program was given, followed by the unveiling of the marker. On this occasion the principal speaker, and eminent minister of the Baptist Church, quoted extensively from my father's article. As a result of the article the grave of the Rev. Jacob Locke is not longer neglected.

Thanks for the information. I had some of the names but stopped at Mary Elizabeth Harper and Arnold T. Burd. Do you by chance have more info on that branch that you would care to share?

I looked at your profile and wanted to ask you did you know that the Trail of Tears went by the John Locke place in Barry Co MO. and stayed the night on his place along Flat river? The old home was still standing up until someone burned it down about 2-3 years ago.
The location of the home is just North-East of Cassville Mo. and just north of Star City.
I have talked to the lady who owns Star City Ranch right next to the Locke place and she knows alot about the Trail of Tears and that area.
