How interesting you mention Syresham. My father used to visit soomeone there very often. Was not aware they were Stockfords.

Rosamund Stoke Lyne is interesting and confusing. A lady called Fanny Stockford lived there with her parents. She had a son out of wedlock called Albert. She was put into a Institution for 6 months described as a lunatic. Later she had twin boys again she was given 6 months. The boys were put into a home at Kidlington. At age 14 they were shipped to Canada. After a while they wandered off to the US. One settled in Portland the other continued to Michigan. The Portland people are still living in situ. The Michigan Stockfords spread. However the clan directly related to the twin that went to Texas on the death of their Father are still their. Sadly I think the lady I was writing to has died. I lost contact during my Wife's illness. Amazingly all these stockfords resembled my own family in the UK so much alike.Stoke Lyne is the most peaceful place on earth.

Dear Roz

Hope you had a productive holiday in UK. Thanks for the tree you sent me. However, Thomas Stockford, (1771) married Mary Robinson at Twyford, Bucks and had nine children, all baptized at Stoke Lyne, Oxon. I think that the only coincidence with the Thomas who married Judith Busby at Syresham, is the fact that the 1841 census gives his birth year as 1771, which as the ages given in that census are notoriously innaccurate, is insufficient to include the Syresham Stockfords in the tree.

Kind regards

Keith
