If you are a genealogy expert, what are your specialties?
I am not an expert, but have many years of doing this and working in a Family History Center. I have worked there for about 24 years. Hopefully I have learned something in that time. I love genealogy.
It would have been her daughter Sophia Adelia Packard along with Mrs. Ellen McKenzie and Mrs. Reba Reynolds who were custodians of the artifacts that had been gathered by another committee. And then even another committee worked to find a larger place to house the artifacts.
Husband: Noah Packard 7 May 1796 Plainfield, Hampshire, MA - 17 Feb 1860 Springville, Utah, Utah
Wife: Sophia Bundy 27 June 1800 South Hampton, Hampshire, MA - 30 Aug 1858 Springville, Utah, Utah
You mentioned Nephi Packard 1 July 1832 Parkman, Geauga, OH - 14 July 1921
Wife: Elizabeth Clucas (sp) married 10 November 1861
You may already know this but ".......and Miss Sophia Packard were appointed custodians." They were referring to the first artifacts gathered for the Springville DUP museum in 1932-33.
Aaron Johnson was the first Bishop of Springville. He was the captain of the company that Brigham Young sent to settle the area. He was released in 1870 after-which William Bringhurst was ordained to be Bishop. Nephi was only 18 at the time Springville was settled. I did not find when Nephi was ordained Bishop but I found when he was released. "The LDS population of Springville was 3,455, including 554 children. They were living in four wards presided over by one bishop, namely Nephi Packard. At a meeting held in the White Meeting House and presided over by Utah Stake President Abraham O. Smoot, on April 15, 1892, .... the four wards were reorganized."
I am at home now. I will look at the Museum to see when Nephi was ordained. I will also look and see what photos we have available.
I am trying to do several things at once here. You are talking about Springfield, I am in Springville between, Mapleton and Provo. The two names are often confused. We do have a Noah Packard and have pictures. We are working with BYU on getting our photos online. I will look and see if our Noah Packard is yours. I have been at the museum a lot the last few months it has seemed like it has been almost been 24/7. I can stop by and look up Noah's info on Friday. The Packard's were in the banking business if I recall correctly.
The Hutchings and Strongs are from Springville. I am currently the director of the Springville DUP Pioneer Museum on Main Street. We have a lot of photos of Packards in the Museum. I have had the position for a year and have been a DUP you member for almost 3 years.
