(Our surname was said to have been changed to WILLARD from MAHONEY (O'MAHONY) upon the arrival of great - grandparents family into New York, USA . about the time of our Grandfather's birth (JAMES M. WILLARD - B: 1853 to 1860 - NY or IRELAND & D: 1936 Houma, La.) My older brother, Eugene "Gene" Powell Willard has completed his YDNA (Big Y 500) / w. Family Finder. Gene is 91 yrs old . I am managing his correspondence . for him. We have found a ROY ROBERTS among our YDNA matches / with matches to JONES / RYAN / MAHONEY. The most distant ancestor in our Roberts genetic matches is: Israel Roberts. We have been combining and attempting to combine family lines of the few surname matches. Altho, we may have little result in percentage of genetic markers . after 4 to 8 generations .. we do believe running paper documents from Ancestry. com is proving the connection of the family surnames . within our one family network.
