The Pavey family can be found in the corners of three counties - Dorset, Somerset and Devon - making it difficult sometimes to keep track of specific branches (esp as they were often involved in agricultural work moving from farm to farm). I have used the record offices in Exeter, Taunton and Dorchester, and the family history research centres in Taunton (at the Castle) and Sherborne. The Somerset & Dorset Family History Society was very active when I last was involved (1990s). Jane Ferentzi-Sheppard - who is soon to speak to BerksFHS - would be a good person to talk to. I have a couple of files with PR transcriptions and research, but chiefly about the Dorset Paveys. Have a lovely time in Devon - I hope the weather gets better.

All my Paveys lived in and around Stoke Abbott - at least from the 1530s when PRs first began in that parish. I lost track of them when Mary Pavie married Samuel Staple(s) in 1703. I did a fair amount of research whilst I was living in Dorset in the 1990s, but didn't need to move further than around 10 miles radius of Stoke Abbott. I expect you are already well aware of the research centre run by the Somerset & Dorset Family History Society in Sherborne!
