I have set up an Avery discussion group. There are 26 Avery researchers on here. I thought by putting our heads together we might find some common relatives and breakdown our brick walls. Please feel free to drop in and post your Avery lines.

There seem to be two main streams of GILLAMs in Australia: one centred around Cranbrook in Western Ausralia and the other around the Mid West of Western Australia. My wife is from the latter group and we've been trying to find a connection between the two groups for several years (unsuccessfully so far).
Are you connected in any way?

My McClelland's came from County Down, they had moved to Ireland a generation before they immigrated in 1779, they had tried to imigrate in 1772 but were driven back by storms. They ended up in Washington county, Pennsylvania after the RW.
My Mcclelland line is through my late mother- elizabeth jane mcclelland...= the alexander Mcclellands of tullygare/cookstown county tyrone....my ggf alexander mcclelland left cookstown in 1844 to come to toronto, ontario.. so i am a proud orangeman from cookstown county tyrone in northern ireland.. so if this fits with u let us continue.. think on!!
My grandmother, Margaret Irwin McClelland, was born 1 Nov 1874 in Garranroe, Monaghan, Northern Ireland. She came to the U.S. in 1895 and married my grandfather, Frederick Hunsche, in Chicago in 1899. Her parents were John McClelland (Abt. 1841 to before 1918) and Maria Irwin (1844-1913), and she had eight siblings. Her brother, George Frederick (1871-1938) also moved to Chicago, but I don't know what happened to any of the other children. I found an abstract of John and Maria's marriage (26 May 1868) which indicated that John's father was named Hugh and Maria's father was named John. It also said that John was a widower at the time. Beyond that I haven't been able to learn anything more about the family in Ireland.
