I have a Nathan Spivey on my family tree born about 1853 in Putman or Bibb County Georgia,  he was married to Pauline (madien name unknown) born about 1860 their children are Frank Spivey born in 1881 and Claud Spivey born 12-4-1882 and died in 1937...

Franks 1st wife is Mary Wright no children mentioned. Frank's second wife is Gozella Bryant.....Gozella had 3 children prior to her marriage to Frank they are George Bryant born 1909, Ray Bryant born 1911, and Flo Bryant born 1913.

Claud Spivey 1st wife was Mary Jane Murray born 8/1883 and died 10/22/1927 her parents were Mandy Rucker born 8/1859 and died 3/12/1950 her father was Reuben Murray born 1/1859 and died 2/11/1945... 2nd wife was Mary hall born 1891 no mention of parent or children.

Claud and mary Jane's children were 1.  Henry Spivey born 1907 and died 11/17/1961 no spouse or children mentioned 2. Claude Spivey born 7/24/1914 and died 2/1986  born in macon Georgia and died in New York City no spouse or children mentioned. 3. Wiley Spivey born 1/9/1918 and died 10/27/1983 born in Macon Georgia and died in New York City.

Nathan, Frank and Claud were listed in the 1910 1920 and 1930 Bibb County Georgia Federal Census....may show a different spelling of the last name as Sperry

I can understand your frustration. I have been doing genealogy since I was fifteen. Now, I am fifty-eight. Sometimes, it takes years just to get small pieces of the much larger puzzle. I would place queries in all genealogical sites on the Dawson plantation. Ancestry.com is a good genealogical site; however, information sent to them can be wrong; however, you will find correct info as well.

Thanks for your reply, Thomas. I am currently trying to piece this family together. I have several leads, but they are not connecting up in the way I need to substantiate their relationships. Wiley Spivey [9 Jan 1918-27 Oct 1983], Claude Spivey [20 July 1914-Feb 1986], and Henry Spivey [1907-17 Nov 1961] were the sons of Claud Spivey [4 Dec 1882-Aft Apr 1930] and Mary Jane Murray [Aug 1883-22 Oct 1927] .

The parents of Mary Jane Murray were Reuben Murray [born Jan 1859] and Mandy Rucker [born Aug 1859]. I have not been able to identify the parents of Mary Jane's husband, Claud Spivey.

This family seems to have lived in and around the Schley County area of Georgia. I have also tried to search in Houston County [birthplace of Reuben Murray] and Taylor County [birthplace of Mandy Rucker].

I received information from a fellow researcher that indicates she believes the parents of Claud Spivey were Wiley Spivey [Sep 1848] and Nellie Greene [Oct 1859]. This researcher said she believed that Wiley Spivey [Sep 1848] was the brother of Nathan Spivey [whose siblings she believes were sold to the Dawson Plantation in Texas], If I interpret what she says in an e-mail she forwarded to me, at least two of the siblings [Wiley and Nathan] were sold in Schley County.

This is where I am now stuck, and have been for the last few years. I cannot find any documentation to corroborate the relationships this researcher claims exist. I am a member of Ancestry.com and I continually monitor the Spivey Family Tree I have there for leads. I did find records on Wiley Spivey and his family, but nothing that would give me the connection to Claud Spivey and his son, Wiley. It seems these were not uncommon names for the place and time.

If any of these people, places, or names are familiar to you, please let me know. Perhaps you can suggest what I can do next [travel is not possible for me anymore]. Thank you. Spivey

`Hi, Thomas. I was wondering if any of your research encompassed the United States, particularly the states of Georgia and Texas? I am researching Spivey ancestors who lived in Schley County, Georgia, and on the Dawson Plantation in Texas [exact location not known]. Thank you. Spivey
