My line goes like this: my dad, Robert Charles Taylor, b. Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his dad, Elmer Robert Taylor, b. Atlantic, Iowa, his dad, Charles R. Edward Taylor, b.Derby, Lucas County, IA, his dad, Robert Calvin Taylor, b. Wapello, Iowa, his dad, John M. Taylor, b. Lucas County, IA, his dad, Robert Taylor, b. Truro, Nova Scotia, his dad, Matthew Taylor III, b. 1755, his dad, Matthew Taylor II, b. 1727, Londonderry, NH, his dad, Matthew Taylor, Esq. who was born abt. 1690 near Londonderry, Ireland. Beyond that, we know that the original Taylor family was from Argyllshire, Scotland and they went to northern Ireland around 1620. Much research is being done to locate the family and genealogy back in Ireland and Scotland.
Tom,
I was so excited that it didn't occur to me right away that you would have to be pretty old if Robert Calvin Taylor, (the one from my line) is your father. This Robert Calvin Taylor was married to Henrietta Kneeland and as far as I know, did not have any sons named Tom. Perhaps we are related because it seems odd that there would be two Robert Calvin Taylors.
