I'm currently researching an ancestor who I believe was a Parkhurst Boy:
Thomas BLANDTHORN transported on the "Joseph So(a)mes" arriving in Port Henry on 24 Sep 1847.
I'd love to chat and see if you might be able to further my research and of course, I'm happy to share what I know of Thomas and his family after his arrival.
I’m working with a television production company in New Zealand and I’m looking into the possibility of doing either a documentary or a drama (or combining them both) on the boys that were transported to New Zealand and come across your name on various web sites.
Very few NZ’ers are aware that these boys came to NZ and the torrid time they had when they arrived but rather than do it as a whole, I’m seeking to find around 6 interesting stories that I could go more in-depth with and was hoping you may be able to help me out and point me in the direction of some you found particularly interesting in your research. I’m also looking into the angle of their descendants who may not even realise who their ancestors were.
It’s still very much in the planning stages at the moment and I’m trying to get some information together to put a proposal up to the various funding bodies here in NZ to prove it would be a good story and I would be extremely grateful for any help you may be able to give me or even if you could point me in the right direction of someone else who could help.
Thanks so much for your time Tony would be great to talk at some stage if you're available..
