Went to R.J.R. High in W-S. Lived on Roslyn Road. Attended St. Paul's Epis. in town. Love to meet you and learn more about the family, your side. Mrs Susan Caroline Malcolm Woollen died 1920 Charlotte. Her grave is across the street from dad's there in downtown. I have her photo with little LtCol Robert Henry "Marse" Lee, West Point class of 1912. I crave her husband, Sgt. Woollen's photo. Jim LOL: Her Woollen children had many middle family names I could not account for. She devotedly attended old downtown St. Pauls; it stained glass windows dedicated to various priests of her period there, are in the assembly room of today's St. Paul's. The old alter is a side alter now; I took communion there because she once did. Though a fat old thing, spiritually I felt very connected with the woman who wed at age 15, so Sgt. Woollen could take one less mouth for her father to feed in those post Civil War desperate times. For blacks far worse. Anyway, in the stained-glass windows was THEE ANSWER for a more devotedly genealogist, than devotedly Christian. The priest's family names became her children's middle names; geez, she confused the lineage, spiritually, thus!
What a thrill, just saw your post. What place do you live. Mrs. Kirkman of of Southport is president of the Southport historical society. Her husband is a Woollen, Malcolm, Heath, Page, Smothers, et al, descendant. Jim
Smothers, Christie, for Mrs. Pat Kirkman here in Southport, N.C. (head of our local historical association); Woollen, Malcolm, Heath, Page of Rockingham and Guilford Cos., N.C., for both of us. My computer is beeping but do not know what that means? Jim
