Hi William,
Looking for a Thomas Clayton that was from the Preston Lancashire, England area. Possibly came to Australia as a criminal. In the years of 1840's to the 1850's. Found his name in a probate record from 1911. His brother Andrew had passed and thru the course of the probate they could only ascertain that a brother Thomas Clayton did exist but that he had gone to Australia and his heirs if any could not be found. I was wondering if this could be an ancestor of yours. I tried to find his records. Found that a Thomas Clayton married a Margaret Lawn and another married a Margaret New 1849 and 1855 respectively. Any information would be very helpful.
