Death, Deceit and a Couple of Sea Captains

A while back, my niece's husband asked me if I would help him look into his ancestry. (He thought that perhaps his family had “come from whales”.) Seeing as he was and still is serving our country in the Air Force, I was happy to see what I could help him find. In addition to showing him how to do basic census records research, I ran some searches on several of the online digitized book sites. We were both amazed at what I found about one of his ancestors in a book on HeritageQuest --…

Preists and Soldiers who became farmers in Sweden.

In the course of my research I have realized that many of my earliest Swedish ancestors were priests in the Catholic church prior to 1530 and Lutheran's after that. There was even one who had to face the ecclessiastical court and then the King's court to prove he didn't have Catholic leanings although he was ordained in the Lutheran church.

If I ever traced all of their descendants(which might take several lifetimes lol) I would have distant relatives all over the world as if I didn't…

Beyond Wills and Trusts – What Do You Do With Your Intellectual Property?

Most people that have families take on the onerous and reflective task of writing a will which provides instructions for the distribution and disposable of our physical assets after we die. Some are very complicated and involve the establishment of trusts to by-pass generations, leaving collections and assets to future generations. Some are very simple distribution of property to surviving relatives. But most people neglect considering how to pass on their accumulated knowledge and memoirs, who… Continue

A Comment on a Great SEMINAR and Speaker Curt Witcher

Over on another of my blog pages I posted a note  about a seminar some of us at CVGS attended last weekend.

Hemet - San Jacinto Genealogical Society hosted a great day of knowledge and prizes and terrific lunch.

Lunch was provided by the Boy Scouts of America.  I am learning new methods of lunches all the time.

We are hoping for a large seminar like we did last October this October, so my eyes and ears are out there…

I am trying to learn how to blog.

I have networked blogs on my facebook but can't figure out how to be able to post there. So can only read blogs. I seem to have to sign back into facebook if I use my gmail account for anything. I get so frustrated. I watched DearMyrtle from the archives on blgging and set up a blog on blogspot.com. I have yahoo as my search engine and I use Internet Explorer IE 8. I also have a yahoo mail account. I am so lost. I rarely use google to search but everything DearMyrtle and Legacy seems to suggest… Continue

I’ve also got photos on my Facebook profile and there’s some video clips of me speaking on my website. I don’t have photos of my…

First Church, Nashua, New Hampshire

When we first moved to Londonderry, New Hampshire I was surprised to find there was no Congregational church.  Nearly every town in Massachusetts has one!  Almost every New Hampshire town has one, too, but since Nutfield was founded by the Presbyterians, the churches remained Presbyterian for a long time.  The First Church in Derry changed to Congregational in the 1800s, and I tried a few services there.  My husband was working in Nashua, and he said several co-workers attended the First…
