The reason for this article came about after a rather public argument I had with a person who is considered the greatest authority on the history of all things Mayflower and the Scrooby movement and the Walloon church. I myself believe this to be true to an extent. I did find him to be mistaken in a couple of matters that I have researched most diligently. He had made the statement and published it in books that Francis Cooke of the Mayflower was a Walloon. I vigorously disagree…

In reference to my previous post about the adult daughter moving in being short-term....uh...NO! She's still here! And I am showing my inability to set myself a routine, Guess I've always been a bit of a free-spirit, I'm adaptable and deal with life as it comes.
Recently, I've found myself spending less time on Facebook and more time on Ancestry. It's the best way to lessen the stress of living in a world gone insane....this sad, new America, Trump's version of America. For a few…

Good day to you all. The sun is out here and breeze is calm at the moment. It will probably rise up around 2:30 or
3 pm and get much cooler.
Resting my shoulder and neck, so instead of trying to read lots of fine print, I did a a bit of wandering.
I am just getting the hang of Pinterest. But I am learning that there is lots of free information out there that is
commented on differently depending on what…

Easter and the changes.
Easter was a great event when I was small. It was still a great event as a young mother.
I so enjoyed the getting together with Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and friends.
As our family grew, and young adults married it was harder to get together but we did manage a few great events
with relatives and friends. Most of my parents friends were treated equally as relatives. We even called them Aunt
and Uncle or Grandpa and…

5 Generation Charts and Sharing of Information. By Susi Pentico
Much to my dismay, the computer system would not show up on the screen. There fore, I started with what I was going to end with. Nor did we complete the helping of each other as intended but we did get names and places out there for us to think about.

In the late 1800's in the town of Galatz, Romania a pogram against the Jews of that town took place. In the dark of night on a fall evening a 10 year old Lillian Rosenberg was secreted away from the burning and killing of the ghetto. After witnessing the killing of her parents a group of gypsies rescued her from certain death and smuggled her away never to see Rumania again.
I cannot to this day imagine the utter horror and sorrow she must have experienced. The anguish she must have…

I am back to doing genealogy research after having to take a break of several years because I just didn't have time to spend on it. I'm starting with my Cox line and have come upon an interesting book online called The Cox Family in America that gives a lot of history on the several Coxes that came to America from England, Sweden, Holland, Scotland to name some. And even includes early genealogies for many of them. From what I understand Coxes from these different lines spread far and wide…

I am very new to genealogy research. My welcome email from this site suggested I join surname groups. I didn't see any of the above names on the surname lists. Any comments are welcome to help me find info on the 4 names in my post title. Thanks.

Am hoping to network with those researching the Gilleland/Gilliland name. I have a John Gilleland buried in Decatur Coiunty Indiana about 1834. Marker says 5th PA Regiment Rev War and thats about all I know. I do know he originally came into Indiana and settled in Union Couinty, then moved to Decatur County. Buried adjacent to him is my 5th Great Grandfather John Gilliland. He was in the War of 1812.so most likely is to young to be old Johns son. I do know young John married Susanah…

Hello;
Just joined the site and was excited to see so many people searching the Barnett clan. It's been very helpful in my search. But...one person seems to be elusive and that is my 3rd gg, Albert Barnett born in Spotsylvannia, VA in 1823 and died in Kirksville, MO in 1900. He married Sarah Elliott and had two children, James Thomas Barnett and Harrietta Barnett. He was in the Missouri Malitia and before that he went to California for the Gold Rush. I did notice that Ambrose…
