I'm new to the site - please help

I have a few family pictures that I was able to scan after the passing of my Mother. However, she was the last living member of her family that would know anyone in the photos. They are not labeled and I would like to ask if anyone recognizes anyone in the photos.

More on Family Traditions and Events-- Voting

Since women could not vote for a very long time in our current society, I want to ask you, "Do You Vote"?

Some blogging people on Facebook today on the far east coast were mentioning the young and some of the very old whom have trouble attempting to get to the polls and vote on meaningful subjects or even caring.

Decided that  voting was my topic for today.  Does your family or did your family keep you informed of voting practices and topics that would affect…

Does Your Faith Dictate What You Do At Halloween? All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day?

We have lost what it came from and we are probably lost on where we are going.  In the 1950's and later

religion played a much stronger role in the up coming holidays.  We were taught Halloween or Holy Evening came to scare away the evil spirits from the graves of our fallen members.  We celebrated All Saint's Day the following morning and All Soul's Day the day after that.

Trusting that the costumes and pranks ( innocent ones) were enough to scare…

Reminisces On My Recent Trip to Turkey

I just took a look at my blog this morning and realized it’s been almost 4 months since I wrote anything. My commitment has always been to try for twice a month and I have alerts set on my calendar to remind me of that commitment.

I think that after finishing my documentary and screening it at the end of May, I was just pretty wiped…

Ask A Question, Does Anyone Answer.

So how goes your Genealogy?  Do you use Social Media?  Do you use the message boards on Rootsweb.com?

Do you put  your information out there for others to find you?  Do you Write Queries to the Quarterlies or Societies you belong?  DO YOU BELONG TO A SOCIETY?

Yes, it was a shout out to wake you up to being aware how much a society can assist you if they are an active group.

Do you Belong? NEHGS? NGS? or your local society?

 Hi everyone,

Yes, the big question is,"do you belong?"   If you  have been doing research for at least one year, you have been getting your feet wet.  You are learning the ropes and it is time to step up for some real help.

Having advocated one should belong to your local society for many years now, I am asking do you belong to yours?

Last time I asked this, responses were our society died, no one helps others, we do not have one. Those were the…

James C. Smith

Looking for a James Smith is almost impossible.  Our JAMES C. SMITH was born in Woolwich area (Preston) in 1801 as per his Muskegan, Michigan census prior to his death in 1887. He MAY have been the son or grandson of a Samual and Sara Smith and is father MAY have been Ward Smith.  Sara's maiden name was Ward.  History indicated a road was build through to the Grand River by "Smith and Ward" - is this a coincidence?  James C.
