Ellwood family of Cumbria

We recently discovered a link between our family and that of a well-researched online family tree on the Ellwood family of Cumbria, England. This has expanded the scope of our Cumbria genealogy research enormously, and we have found many people with Ellwood family members shown in online trees, often with strange anomalies and glaring errors.

We have started an…

Creating a Storyboard for Multimedia Projects

A storyboard is an essential tool for laying out a video or film project to communicate the look of a piece, to show how a story or plot unfolds and to organize the sequence of scenes before any time or money has been spent on studio sets, location shoots or special effects. It serves as a roadmap for producers, directors, casts, crews, animators, audio engineers and post-production editors.

First developed by Disney Studios back in the 1930’s for their early animated films and used…

Sentimental Sunday,,, Blogs, and Time and Distance

It is truly a Sentimental  Sunday, we lost a very dear friend yesterday. He has gone to a better place I am sure.

It hurts so bad it is hard to speak of him even. He was so ready to move on with his adventures. His time here was so very, very long. Our daughter will miss her adopted Grandfather in ways I can yet to even begin to fathom.

This man even affect the grandchildren of our children. I received a call from Upland today to say to his Grandfather,"…

Frank's Lament

What shame did I bring upon you the descendants of Peter and Parilee.

Tell me the turmoil that exist in your hearts that made you forget about me.

Surely tears came to my mother's eyes when she thought about me.

When my father gazed North,  I know he cared about me.

When my name was spoke, was there a hush, shhh don't speak about me.

What have I done that you've said nothing to your children about me.

A letter was written, it's contents never…

Frank Boyd

If my father was Peter, and mother was Parilee wouldn't someone remember me.

If I had brothers and sisters named Lucy, Henrietta, Annie Lee, twins Mary and Martha, Jessie, Beatrice, Emanuel, Shadrach and Laura, wouldn't they want you to remember me.

If I came from a small place called Waycross, left home, you tell me you wouldn't remember me.

Wouldn't you want to know about my son, Cecil, and his children.  Particularly the one writing this, Cheri, who won't let you…

Boyd Independence

Tomorrow is July 4th, Independence Day.  I was thinking not of our country's freedom, it's independence, but of my grandfather, Frank Boyd and his independence. Frank was the son of Peter and Parilee Boyd from Waycross, GA.  Born 1898 or about's, I have know ideal when Frank arrived in Columbus, OH or why he decided that this would be his home, but he did and I'm here.

I was told by Frank's sister Lucy's grandson (genealogist you know this lingo) that when Frank left…

Migration from the Beginning of Time, What?

After  doing research to complete my presentation to the Genealogical Society I have decided to make a few                notes here.

Migration happend once we were created.  YDNA and genetic researchers are saying that  we migrated    out of Africa  to the north and then east and west.  New information surfacing is considering muddling those waters.  When are they not muddled.

It seems the state of Georgia has some…

Last week NPR ran a segment on their show, Marketplace, entitled “Coming Soon, The Cash Peters Story” which was a look into the world of video biographies spotlighting one Los Angeles firm, Legacy Flicks, that charges $20,000 to put your name on the marquee for 30 minutes.

The segment was humorous and played upon the egotistical aspect of making a movie about your…

Photo Day

Today I've been sick, matter of fact, I've been sick for the last several days. Despite it all, today has been a good day.  Why?  Today I put photos on my GenealogyWise page.  Photos that are vivid because I can remember when some of them were taken.

Looking at pictures of my grandmother, Maud Wise Hairston, and putting them on this site.  Aiming that not only does her life continue because of her children, their children, but her name continues because I won't let it die.  She died…
