Why Groups Tend to Falter
Oh yes, they do falter, get stale and some even disappear. But why does this happen, we ask ourselves?
There is a multitude of reasons for this to happen, whether intentional or not, it can sneak up behind you and you do not even know your going to be hit.
I recall a President saying," we are at 65 members and slowly going backwards, what do we need to do to stop this?"
The many people at that board table…

Blogging and It's Challenges
Blogging can bring families together that were not aware the other existed. Blogging sometimes makes people say please do not write about my family. Please, yes respect their wishes.
Blogging is almost like a diary for some. They record their adventures as they move along.
Blogging definitely has it's challenges. Some days we win and some days we lose. We all have our own set opinions on how to blog, what to blog…

Interesting things happen when one blogs. Someone said," use phrases that catch the eye and the mind, get the readers attention." But my mind obviously does not work the way others do and it leaves some readers very confused, so I am told.
I mentioned in the last blog having a home for your research questions to go to, to roost. To help you wind your way through the maze of documents and data and information that is today presented to a family historian or…

More Society Tidbits.
Here is hoping that most of you have found a home to call home in Genealogy for a Society. Whether it is a National Society or the local one down the road. Maybe a Historical Society that fills the space for that region would be good also. Many start as Historical and branch off to become Genealogical.
A Society can so help you in your research: Surname files, 5 Generation Charts, Pedigree sheets, Family Group Sheets, Compiled…

Societies that are expanded and the new needs they find for their society. This topic came up on a sidebar at our board meeting yesterday. When the society is 65 people and under, almost everyone can remember everyone and share tidbits and make all comfortable. When a society reaches over the point and is reaching the 80's, 90's and above, one has to make some changes. We learned that a Greeter at the door is very beneficial to the society. It helps to make the…

Sharing Information written by Paula Stuart-Warren, CG, FMGS, FUGA. Paula thank you for this information.
It echos my sentiments and is well stated.
At Burbank Jamboree this year I did this very thing. As Educational Chairperson of our society, I felt I needed to
bring back as much information as I could to help our members doing their research. Having attended new speakers,
learning new search methods, and shared ideas with others…

Just opened my mail to learn that Rhode Island has opened up the Adoption Records for people over 25 years of age.
I know a touchy subject but recently learned almost every family or so it seems has adoption lurking in it's background.
Does not mean any one was bad or not liked or mean, it just means that some times it was felt that others could do a do a better job or they had no way to support or keep you as a person.
I do not…
