Bloggers Topics and Comments That Moved Me this Week.
For me, an interesting week has passed. I just blogged over on my other site about the communities doings of this last week.
But I want to share my thoughts on some of the outlying data that reached out to my mind. I think they carry more weight than all the judging contests ever could.
I loved when someone said, " Why do you do Genealogy?" " Why would you recommend someone to do…

Defining the Genealogy Community - Comments and Thoughts
Interesting how the "Hot Topics" show up at the busy time. More importantly one wants to answer the
query with serious thought and not provocation.
Having read that there was a comment: "Are Bloggers the New Experts?", I had to set on my response a bit.
Blogging in no way makes anyone an expert, but it does let someone who may be an expert in some area or arena of…

Treasure Chest Thursday ----------MMMMMMM big ?
Yes, I think it was a Treasure Chest Thursday but not maybe in a way one would think.
We gave testimony in regards to someone who walked amongst us today. It was good to hear the words
that were spoken.
My family is blessed to walk amongst these people and claim them as long long time friends more like family.
One does not need to see them often to remember all the good things and…

Today I went to the message boards to see what I could see.
I put in a surname and started reading the boards response.
What a surprise to find, there was information that I had not looked for before.
The boards change as people answer queries so some times they do not move for weeks or months and other times
they move rather quickly.
It reminded me to look for more than just a surname when…

Genealogy at Christmas Time - Yes Family Does Find You
Genealogy at Christmas Time I wrote about yesterday as to why to write Christmas letters and what the many benefits of the season can bring.
Opening my e-mail early yesterday morning, brain was on Michigan time, I received a letter from a new found Scott cousin. He has information to fill in some of my blanks which in turn will fill in at least 10 other Scott researchers blanks.
It is…

Genealogy at Christmas Time
Genealogy at Christmas Time, "but I am way to busy", is a statement that I frequently hear.
I can not think of a holiday that is more appropriate to discuss and share Genealogy than this Holiday Season.
It is like let me count the ways.
1. You are already exchanging friendly greetings to family and friends.
2. Did it ever occur to you that the family friend may be kin?
3. People…

Christmas is Almost Here
I have been doing the Advent of Christmas on one of my blogs. I will print it out Christmas Eve and put in folders for the various adult members of our family.
I think it was a great thing to do so I could share data about Christmas's past. It seems we seldom set around and talk about what we did last year or the year before or ten years ago. So the younger generation is not getting the information passed down to them to carry…

These darling bunnies were born in October while I was at our sons. The Mom has a black with gold flecked coat and so do some of the younger ones.
I raised white and black bunnies but do not recall ever any red ones or orangebrown coated bunnies.
I bet they are double in size almost now. Bunnies grow quickly and they are called Kits.
My…

We all shared the stories of buy American for this year. I am not sure if we all posted what we could buy as Americans and Genealogists.

Sorting Saturday
Actually I started sorting yesterday so items could be sent to others. I did not have those items until I went through the boxes I acquired from my Mom's estate.
I find some of the items have been presorted and will be sent on to others. I thought my brother and sister and I had presorted them all before I brought them home. I guess not. I know I left envelopes of pictures for nieces and nephews and brothers and sons before I left northern…

The turkey is plucked and in the pan.
The sage stuffing is smelling so grand.

The company is invited and the time has arrived.

Researching, Preparation and Completion, the Right Way or the not Thinking Way?
I just read a very, very sad tale, that could have been so very, very different. I want to share with everyone,
what I learned and why it is so valuable to follow.
A researcher on a rootsweb list page posted a tale of woe and discontent of sorts, not total but enough to say that
their ground work was not laid even if they had extra hands and…

This Old House
Wish I could remember the words. But this old house is soon to be no more.
This old house was home from fall 1948 until Jan 10, 2011. At that time it crossed over to being
a reminder of what we had, what we could have had and what we were denied.
This old house had it's timbers rocked and it's soul fulfilled many times over in it's life time.
We started…
