Seems many are commenting on what we are going to do for the New Year. So thought I would post some of my in the past not written agenda for the year. I find this works well and may help others to be more on top of items and topics they want to tackle.
I am going to start with the month of October. That should be easy to determine why, :>).
October is Family History Month so our genealogy should reflect that theme. We should be checking for events at the libraries,…

A friend sent me this and I thought it was to profound to pass up.
While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up a
stone and
scratched lines on the side of the car. In anger, the man took
the child's hand and hit it many times; not realizing
he was using a wrench.
At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.
When the child saw his father.....with painful eyes he asked,
'Dad when…

The day dawned and my heart was with my mind thinking of our lost servicemen and women from WW2 and other wars.
I was young when this war happened and it affected almost every family of my parents siblings in one way or another.
My husbands Uncle did not make it home. My Uncle's ship sank at Pearl Harbor. He got so mad at the Japanese he tossed his revolver ( no bullets) at the pilot of a plane when he buzzed the field and hit him in the head. He told us so many incidents that…

Greetings from wet, windy, rather cool southern California. Tree limbs down and trees down and debris all over.
Home Depots garden area looked like a disaster zone. People were afraid to park near a tree the way they were whipping around near Starbucks. All the trees at Home Depot were down and rolling in the street or laying on their sides.
We need the rain but we sure lost a lot to run off, so heavy, so fast and ground so dry. By this evening winds are flying around yet but…

Christmas Ornaments yes I have some, some rather old some rather new. I bought a New Hallmark for a grandchild today, in hopes it will serve as warm memories over years.
Our first Christmas 50 years ago was spent apart. He was on Guam and I was with my family in California.
I was to go to Guam but change of command changed all those plans.
I shared Christmas with my family and as they upgraded their trimmings they would offer me the used items.
I was delighted to…

The days before Christmas are filled with much meaning.
The hours before Christmas fill me with care.
I am hoping the thanks for the family and friends
will bring a new warming amongst humans.
Each day is filled with meaning and purpose and
prayer.
May we present ourselves in a manner that
God is pleased.
The world is large and many are hungry
we are a nation of much that can share.
Let us hope we can make this a…

Greetings one and all,
Since my computer still not working correctly I thought I would add my Season's Greetings to ye all at this time.
Family is visiting and medical things happening with family. Time is limited and it makes me remember to be thankful
for all that we have. We are blessed with a roof over our head, food to eat and clothes to wear. We also have a vehicle for transportation and some of the greatest friends and family in the world.
Reminicing…

Surnames are interesting they tend to litterally drive us to hunt in weird places and do strange things.
Surnames are very early in origin in some forms, late in origin in other forms. Whether your native or non,
surnames have been used around and around. Son of Peter son of David son of William, become, Peterson
Davidson, and Williamson, now if your Russian it still works. OV and OFF are the derrivatives but today I can not
remember which work for…

Following Frida,y O yes, Following Friday is Saturday and Sunday etc. But we know that is not what the intent was for the blog post. :>)
I posted my response on my blogger.com page but thought I would make more comments here. For those of you who
have not started to blog or not sure how. It is a great source for getting information out to family, friends and kin. It breaks up the tedious sometimes reading of Wills, Deeds, County HIstories etc. It can enlighten you and help…

It is so tempting at times to just take data and run with it. But it is not mine and I can not say if any of it is true.
It may all be correct and that is just fine but the work is still not mine.
Does any one cold call yet today? Do we get a directory and contact all people of a certain surname to see if they have a chance to be akin of thine?
Do we call the Chamber of Commerce in the small towns and villages to ask for advise as to what area would know where we…

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY took place on my
http://susischattyperformances.blogspot.com/
blog spot.
My day has been anything but wordless. Except when Randy S was given his Vacation presentation at the Library for the society. BTW, Randy that was a really nicely done job. You were able to show that if one's mind is set right one can do genealogy and enjoy family and have a great vacation all rolled into one.…

Last April (08) my son and my MOM and I went for a drive and to dinner in Bodega Bay. We drove around where the boats are now all parked instead of where they were when I was a youth. We went out on the Head and Al took many pictures of the bay, the ocean, the animals. We saw deer, rabbits, squirrels, and many birds. There was this one seagull that decided to be a friend, or entertain us.
The Seagull flew down and landed on the hood of the car while we were taking pictures it walked…

Climate changes affect Genealogy in many ways. People migrate due to changes, floods, famine etc.
Many people died on ships when crossing the ocean seas with the storms never heard of before at that time of the year appeared. People froze to death in NY City and other areas when a large drop in temperature brought all mode of travel to a halt and produce or milk or food could not be brought to the city dwellers. Country people generally, faired better because they had only themselves to…
