Just opened my mail to learn that Rhode Island has opened up the Adoption Records for people over 25 years of age.
I know a touchy subject but recently learned almost every family or so it seems has adoption lurking in it's background.
Does not mean any one was bad or not liked or mean, it just means that some times it was felt that others could do a do a better job or they had no way to support or keep you as a person.
I do not understand the need to hide the identity of the family. It should help to make the people stronger and more durable. A close family friend stated, when he found his birth father, it helped him to understand some of the ideas he had and did not know where they came from. One he met his father (birth) he was able to better understand himself and work with making his life better. Does not mean you need to emulate them or ignore them just realize that there is much to be gained if you look at it right and much more to loose if you do not find that missing link to ones past.
Rhode Island voted the law in 2011 in September. It took affect today. 2 July 2012.
So do YDNA study or Mtdna study and find you lines and keep requesting that they open the past and rid of us our skeletons. Once known it is no longer a Skeleton in my minds eye.
