Mary Irma Lamka (ne Pogany). 1921-1994
Aunt marry was one of the sweetest people I've ever known.
She knew every Polish joke ever conceived and delighted in telling, without malice, each and every one of them.
She adored her cats and annointed the corner in her laundry room in which was kept the litter box the "Pooder room".
She was born Mary Irma Pogany 2 Sep 1921 just one month before she arrived in the United States. Her birth was either in Miskolc, Hungary or enroute to or in Liverpool, UK where she, her father Cez, and her mother, Mary E boarded S.S. Aquitania bound for New York, New York, USA.
At some pont in the voyage Mary I. was admited to the ship's infirmary, but was eventually released. Aquitania landed in NY, NY, USA on 21 Oct, 1921, the family came ashore and made their way to Ohio (Where there were many other Pogany's)
Mary died in 10Nov 1994, 3 years to the day before Grover, her husband of nearly 50 years.
Was she Grover's high school sweet heart?
