1787: Thomas Blair, Davidson County, TN; tax roll.
1836: Friderick Kleinhans (Clinantz, Klinhance) arrived at Seaford Town by 20 JUL 1836, in able condition. He was 36 yrs old. His wife, Christina, was 26 yrs old. They had 2 children: an 11 yr old son, and 14 month old daughter. Frederick, a baker, died on 9 DEC 1836, of bilious fever.
1837: The report of September, 1837, records the following: "Clinantz -- widow. 1 male. 2 females. Spinster. A tolerable house. 16 hills negro yams. 150 hills seed yams. 7 hills yam pea. 1/2 acre cocoes and ginger. 100 plantain trees. 100 coffee trees. 20 roots sugar (cane)." The family was not present on the list of September, 1838.
1897: Terrell Times Star 01/22/1897 abstracted obit "Ank Smith died at Kaufman with pneumonia." Unknown date & paper abstracted, "Mr. J.A. Smith died at his residence northeast of Kaufman last Monday. He moved from Forney to Kaufman the latter part of the year 1856 and served as a deputy sheriff under Robert Adamx, deceased. After his term of office expired he went into the business of weighing cotton. While a mere boy he enlisted as a Confederate soldier serving the full term. He leaves a wife and several children, mostly girls."
Notes from Linda Harwell: "From my personal notes: J. Angus 'Ank' Smith, born Mississippi 1868 - died January 18, 1897, Kaufman, Kaufman Co., Tx., buried {I am assuming} Hillcrest Cem., Forney, Tx. Divorced Mary 'Pollie' Newton in 1883. [found evidence of the divorce in a land deed document. Could not find divorce case in Kaufman County] They married April 6, 1871, Forney, Tx. She was living in Dallas in 1909. Mary 'Pollie' Newton, born about 1852/1855, Ovilla, Ellis Co., Texas. Forney Messenger, July 2, 1889 "Mrs. J. Ank Smith and son Ramah of Kaufman visited relatives in Forney." Kaufman Sun, March 11, 1898 "Mrs J. Ank Smith & family left for Hill country last week where they will make their future home." [Note: Not sure if this is Hill County or Hill country]"
