Every now and then I have to take a break from the genealogy. I don't know why. I am addicted to the core, but I think it has something to do with interference from the present--children to raise, holidays to celebrate, new memories to forge.
The Nave/Naves branch of my father's family from Kentucky is a serious thorn in my side. Even after a visit to Kentucky this summer I am not much closer to finding the origins of Thomas Naves (1823-1866) who was married to Mary Rose. I have some intriguing clues, but alas not enough time to go to KY every time the spirit moves me.
I made a huge amount of progress on the Fischers of Jasper, IN. My main goal in research is to find the immigrant in each major branch, but I managed to get the Fischers back into Bayern (Bavaria) and pretty early.
I am becoming something of an accidental expert on the Daltons of Breckinridge County KY. I have been following descendant lines just so that I can keep them all straight. There are a couple of cousin marriages that make things a bit interesting. I remain particularly interested in meeting other descendants of Francis Greenberry Dalton who was the son of Henry Van Buren Dalton.
