George C. Franklin was born November 1849 in McDowell County, NC.

He married Emily Griffin on January 15, 1871 in McDowell County, NC. No one knows for sure where George was before he got married, but a George of about the same age shows up in the 1860 and 1870 censuses in Madison County, NC. In their marriage record it states George's parents to be Ezekiel and Dianna Franklin.

George and Emily appear in Barker's Creek, Jackson County, NC in the census of 1880 with four sons: Calvin 8, Luthar 6, Joseph 3, and Mary 1.

That same year in Jonathan Creek of Haywood County the census shows a Louis Franklin 34 living with Diannah Franklin 72, his mother. This is most likely the mother and brother of George. Also In Haywood County, the census shows a Nancy Franklin 52, David Franklin 18 (her son) and Louisa Griffen 28. I believe Nancy to be George's sister and Louisa, Emily's sister. George and Emily are later found living in Jonathan Creek in 1900.

The Children of George and Emily are:

Isaac Calvin Franklin 1873 - 1947

Mary Franklin (Sluder) 1879 - 1954

Margaret Franklin (Messer) 1881 - 1921

Martha Franklin (Leatherwood) 1883 - 1943

Maudie Lee Franklin (Pressley) 1887 - 1971

George Hardin Franklin 1890 - 1974

Robert Martin Franklin 1892 - 1976

Sherman Weaver Franklin 1898 - 1976

It is not known when George died but he is believed to be buried at Parks Cemetery, Jonathan Creek, NC. Along with Emily and some of his children.
