This last weekend I ventured from very rural Wyoming, our town Rock River population 250 to the big, big, big city of Denver, Colorado for my 40th High School Reunion. Go North.
This is a fairly big deal as the only real traffic we see up here is maybe 4 or 5 cars as we go to Laramie, unless its game day. So getting on the interstate is, for me a bit stressfull, thank goodness it was a weekend. I got to Denver and got onto Wadsworth Blvd. which is a fairly familar road for me, and was making note as I drove about all the changes I saw on the North end of the road. As I traveled farther south I was in not so familiar territory and then all of a sudden I started noticing things that were familiar again. It took a few minutes to remember that My husband and kids and I had lived on the south end. Duh!!! The motel/hotel I stayed in was located it what was a field about 25 years ago.
I met up with my best friend from elementary school, and her fella we went to the reunion. Needless to say I had a small suitcase full of pictures, and annuals from elementary school to High school. You should have seen some of us trying to figure out who was who and where we were in the class pictures. Note to everyone if you have old class pictures label them with what you remember 50 years is a long time to remember who your classmates were. Had a great time talking to friends and aquaintences. Some of us have really changed and some really haven't
Everyone should try to go to your reunions or a least some of them.
It was a pleasure to go by the home I grew up in, whoever owns it now is taking as good of care of it as my parents did.
I snapped a picture, but being in the city I didn't want somone to think something kind of strange was going on.
