Ran across your post of Healy-Crosby from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
the Comfort Healy you show as your gggrandfather, is my grandfather's grandfather. (Also named Comfort Haley)
I have the copy of the same inscription from his tombstone: They are taken frp, Watt's Psalms and Hymns, - the first four lines of Hymn No. 18, and the last four lines of Hymn No. 19.
His son, Ebenezer Haley, the California pioneer , has the samae four lines on Hymn No. 18 on his gravestone in the old cemetery at Irvington (Fremont), Alameda County, California.
the interesting connection is Comfort Haley, (sonof Ebenezer, grandson of Comfort) married a Mary Gertrude Mott. And I have a copy of her older sister, Estrella Mott's journal telling about her travel from New York to Mazatlan, Mexico in 1847.
They stopped over in Hawaii , because of the trade winds, etc . and spent 6 months with Mrs. Dominis and her family,
She tells of parties, horseback rides, and such with the two princes. (I will have to get out the journal to be more specific)
But, thought you would like to hear the interesting connection of Healy /Dominis.
The Mott's had businesses in Mazatlan, and he was considered for the US consul there, until the war in 1848.
This is my first experience blogging or even making internet connections, so please excuse if I'm doing it wrong.
