Hebrew Orphan Asylum New York, Brooklyn?

I'm looking for anyone who was able to trace family to there and what process they went through to get the info. from that agency. My Grandmother and 3 other siblings were in and out of the Asylum several times. This is new news to us as my Grandmother never told anyone about her family or past.

Hey William, Thank you for the info. My sister looked it up and found that there are a couple of boxes? that we can go look at. It should contain information on the reason(s) the children were there. I'm hoping to make a trip there to see what they contain. Also would like to find court records related to that if the children were removed by the city. Oral history would be awesome to hear..................i guess we'll be there all day. :-)

It appears that the archives of the Hebrew Orphan Asylum are currently held at the Center for Jewish History here: http://www.cjh.org/

The admission and discharge registers for 1860 through 1928 can be searched via the web: follow this link
http://www.cjh.org/collections/genealogy/HOA.php

Also, nearly fifty oral history interviews about the institution are on deposit at the New York Public Library.

Hope this helps.
