I've been playing around with the Pennsylvania Probate files on Familysearch a lot this week. Been finding little gems left and right. Such as this will for Joseph Burkholder, my GGGGrandfather, who died in 1880. The copy I found is the will book copy, which is a transcription of the original. It reads as follows:

No. 68 of 1880 
Will of Joseph Burkholder, Dec'd
 
In the name of God Amen, I Joseph Burkholder of Ligonier Township in the County of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania being advanced in age and life being very uncertain and being of sound mind and memory and understanding thinks proper to make and publish this my last will and testament that is to say I will and desire that all my just debts and funeral and proving this my last will shall be first and fuly paid out of my Estate then I will and desire that after my death my Executors hereinafter names shall erect a suitable head and foot stone over my grave of station marble not to exceed fifty dollars in price then I will and bequeath my daughter Hannah Mariah intermarried with White Campbell the sum of one dollar as her full share of my Estate then I will and bequeath to my daughter Kizia, intermarried Godfrey McDowell the sum of the sum of Two Hundred dollars as her full share of my Estate then I will and bequeath to my son Mathew G. Burkholder the sum of five dollars as his full share of my estate Then I will and bequeath to my daughter Agnes intermarried with Henry Walters the sum of two hundred dollars as herfull share of my Estate then I will and bequeath to my son James C. Burkholder the sum of two hundred dollars as his full share of my Estate then I will and bequeath to my grate Children that is William Cavin and Hays Cavin the sum of fifty dollars each out of any moneys remaining my Executors hands after the foregoing legises are paid Then I will and bequeath all the balance of my Estate whatever it may be to the Pleasant grove Presbyterian Church for the support of the Gospel and as soon as my Estate in settles all the money remaining in my executors hands shall be paid over to John M. Binkey    as trustee for the support of the gospel at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church that is the interest of it yearly and if any of my heirs shall give any trouble or make any expenses about this my last will the shall not receive any of my Estate whatever and I and whereever I spend my last days the shall have my furniture and and clothing and I do nominate constitute and appoint James Jones of Westmoreland County State of Pennsylvania Executor of this my last will and testament thereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time make and declare this to be my last will and testament In witness where of I the said Joseph Burkholder have set my hand and seal this 25th day of June AD 1880.                                                        Joseph Burkholder    (seal)

so, it says that my gggrandfather, Mathew, got a total of five dollars from his father's estate. Wonder why? I'll probably never know. But it makes me wonder what kind of relationship Mathew and Joseph had.
