Library Research for Anyone
You do not have to wander far to do genealogy research. From the Armchair in your living room to down the street at the nearest library you can garner information to use in your hunt for clues to expand your knowledge of family.
You can learn about the climate and weather and environment of the area your ancestors lived by just going to the library. Yes, if you are a card holder you can even probably, access the library from your computer at home if you have one.
All these things are relevant to your research. The reasons being: why they moved, why they stayed, what education did they receive or not, what medical history do you have about them. Do you realize how much all these questions actually affect your own life.
Dr. Koop years ago said do your medical research and help us to irradicate many of the common maladies we are facing today. Yet, I am amazed at how many genealogists are not doing a medical genealogy to potentially save a future grandchild's life.
There are diseases that cold climate make worse, there are disease that warm wet climate do not help. All things in our lives are relevant. The same applied to our ancestors.
So go to your nearest library and ask them where these locations are in their library.

This is a good idea I would never have thought about including things like the weather and environment condition in my research materials. the cost of living and salary ranges could be included in your research materail also.
