Scott's in Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties, Virginia

As some of our members pointed out, if you have the right lines and religion you do not need to leave your home to do

your research.  Yes, for some it comes easier than others.  We early American downliners, have such a mixed  heritage we seldom have anything near that type of success.

We seem to have various religious backgrounds and changing as the time moves forward.  Having found some    genetic backgrounds are more true to the basic faith they had in Europe but more than likely if your are early, early  American's from Europe not always the case. Times created change and attitudes caused major change and moves.

So finding that Nimrod Scott was a Minister, (he is John's brother), does that imply John was of that faith?

A good question, we are dealing with early Virginia not early Mass. or are we?

Another question, who is the Robert Scott mentioned in Thomas Scott's Will?

In fact who are all the other Scott's near Thomas, John, William, Nimrod and others?

Spent two + hours reading: "The History of Pittsylvania County, VA" and the book "The History of Halifax Co. VA",

I found all these other Scott's and many of them seemed connected to others.

Hoping some of the answers will lie in the Ashlock connection to Scott. Since two siblings of each line married

each other.  It seems another group did the same but need to search it out more.

Now we learn there were SCOTT'S at Jamestown, having already known there were two Scott's in the LOST    COLONY Group. Never learned more on their data. This is tangible.

The best thing I read was the fact that George SCOTT of London had a brother in New England at the same time.

He left Martin's Hundred to the children of his brother Edmund Scott also a bequest to brother Richard who was in

   New England Will May 8, 1645 proved Feb 22, 1648 (VCR 4-245-246,  EEAC51)

Will that clear up the fact, that one of our Scott cousin's have lived in New England over 200 years and never as

far as they knew been to VA. yet we match closely.  My thoughts were family came on separate ships?? but now this

record verifies this person had a brother north.  I did document it in case it is our family.

The other one is Walter Scott, Yes a family name. and had a son Samuel, died poor but we need to look into this.

Maybe researching more on this Jamestown Scott we may learn who THOMAS SCOTT belonged to.

   The distance was not far.

If your researching SCOTT in this area please get in touch with us. There are many digging answers.

Susi Jones Pentico, descendant of Thomas to John to Shadrack to John to Cornelius to Inez to Mom to me.

These books are both in the Chula Vista Library on 4th and F St.
