Charles Martin in Clinton County, Ohio
One of my Brick Walls is finding the parents of Charles, Manassa, Mary, and Constantine (possibly Alexander Constantine) Martin. They are in the 1850 Federal Census in Washington Township, Warren County, Ohio, with Hannah Martin, born in New Jersey, and living with Isaac and Rhoda Smith and children Hannah, Theodore and Harriet. I haven't been able to find any of them in 1860, but I do find them again in 1870. Alexander Constanine Martin is in Madison County, Iowa in 1860. Manassa is in Marion County, Indiana in 1880. We have proven that Charles and Manassa are siblings, and haven't proven A.C.

Thank you replying and for this information. I do already have the 1850 census, and I have been in contact with Juvanne Martin. Isaac's wife was Rhoda Hampton. I'm afraid that I don't have the source for this. My original thought was that Isaac was Hannah's brother, so her maiden name would have been Smith.
I think I have checked out in Warren County, both in person and on the net, but I will check it out again. Also Clinton County, since the two are so close together, and I found Charles and his wife's marriage record in both counties.
I'm also thinking that if we could find some of the Smiths or Martins in the 1860 census, it could give some clues to something.
I was just noting that Isaac Smith, Charles Martin and Manassa Martin all died in 1901; Isaac in Clinton County in May, Charles in Clinton County in September, and Manassa in Dayton at the Veteran's Home in December. Could you imagine the family sorrow!
