Hi, my name is Jamie Sexton Spence and I am a beginner in the field of genealogy. I am trying to research my family on my Dad's side but am stuck. The only thing I can find that has anything to do with my great grandfather, Roy Sexton, is that he married Amanda Franklin in 1927 and they were residing in Van Lear, KY. He was a miner and that year they had a son named Billy J Sexton. Somewhere in between 1927 and 6 yrs later, Amanda got a divorce and remarried Phillip Ward. Roy was born in Carter County. I got all this from the marriage bond. I think it said he was 21 at the time of marriage. Anyway, as the story goes, Roy was mean to his son Bill and Amanda ran Roy off because of it. No one has any clue where he went or what became of him and I am stuck. It's like he fell off the face of the earth! Can anyone help?

OH MY GOODNESS!!! PATSY YOU DID IT! You found my great grandfather! Roy's parents were John and Clara (Rodgers) Sexton! I'm so happy! How can I find more information on the record you found?
Your kidding me Jamie. Damn Gennie Gods are in line at the moment. I found this over at Ancestry.com. Do you want me to go back and look for them some more and see what else I can find out on them?

Odds might be good that we are related though the Sexton's. I just need to figure out whether or not James and Millie Sexton are my Millie parents or grandparents.
I cant find anything to night.. but that doesnt mean anything. I have couple of websites that me will send your way.

I agree completely. I love genealogy. It is so interesting and I want to know so badly where my family originated. Plus, this will help my little sister in school when she has to make a family tree. I love this site!!!
