Hello…in my research I have found this surname spelled Sayer but in my direct line I usually find it spelled Sayre. I hope I am able to establish contact with someone who might be able to provide more information about my ancestors. My 3rd great grand father, Nathan Sayre, was born 5 Jan 1804 in Orange County, New York. I have not been able to find his parents or any siblings. What I know comes from the following:

Taken from a book titled... Portrait Biographical Album of Barry and Eaton Counties, Michigan. Published in 1891. Page 824 Nathan Sayre immigrated in 1840 to Eaton County from Orange County, NY, where he was born January 5, 1804. His mother died when we was but a little one of three years, and he went with his father to Steuben County where this parent died when the boy was but fifteen years old, and the orphan lad was bound out to a man who followed the business of tanning which trade he learned and followed up to the time when he came to Michigan.

Any help with my line would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Lyn

Lyn, I am sorry, I am unable to help. There are several Sayer Families in England, prob not related. Our family also settled in NY, in Macomb County and some members migrated to Michigan. This could lead to some confusion.
Maybe someone will come into the site and read my message and see the connection (at some time). It doesn't hurt to try.
