Brick Wall: William Nickell b. 1792 in Ireland, m. Margaret Ramsay(?) b. in Ireland/Scotland/US. Lots of info on their descendants, but ascendants...NO. Have collected much from Halton Co, and also on the family of John Ramsay, Jr., of Nassagaweya twp and Eramosa twp, who turned out to be the wrong family! (Still keep an eye out for them as I got attached.) Will share.
In need of clues to climb the Wall. Suspect Nickell spelling was anglicanized on arrival in Canada. Am back to square one on Ramsay.

Do you have anything on a Robert NICHOLS b..abt. 1829 in Ireland & his wife Jane TALBOT b.abt 1831 also in Ireland. On the 1851/52 Ontario Census they are living in Eramosa, Wellington County, Ontario. with a year old daughter (not named). I have been unsuccessful in finding them since that census. I am hoping to link Jane Talbot Nichols with my TALBOT family from Eramosa. Also, I have run across many spelling variations of the Nichol(s) name. When I saw your posting about William "NICKELL" born in Ireland & living in Esquesing (close to Eramosa) I thought there might be a connection. Thanks for any info.

Hi Violet--I will be happy to check. I love searching in Halton and Wellington (we have Roszels from Eramosa). I just searched a bunch of ship records and Robert Nichol rings a bell from that. Of course, I am taking any variation of Nichol that I can find. Don't give up on me; I am preparing for visitors weekend after next, so it may be a little while until I can get the papers reviewed. I am happy to share anything I can find.
