I've been looking for some info on one of my Revolutionary War ancestors. All I have is his name and whose troop he was in. I also have his son's name. HIs name is Benanul/Benamuel Deuel/Duel. He was a Lt. and Levie with Willet's New York Regiment.I think one of his sons also fought in the war. His name was Tristram/Trutram Deuel/Duel.Benamuel was married to a Rebecca Tripp. Can anyone help me find out more info on him. I have no idea where he's buried, his birth or death date. Also, is there anyone else who's ancestor was in the same regiment? Sure would like to hear from you.

Beverly let me see what I can do for you allright. Do you know if he has been proven yet or not?
As far as I know of he has through family and the DAR. I have a copy of a paper that says how much he was paid.
It has a bunch of numbers on one side THe side that says Willett's New York Regiment. THed numbers are: 39183185. Does that help? I'm not sure what the numbers are for or what they mean.
DAR paper? That could be a DAR membership number. Is this person related to your ancestor?

09-338. Wilbur DEUEL, d 1823: Graham’s / Hopkins’s 6th Regt Dutchess Co (NY) Militia [identified also as a Loyalist] http://www.angelfire.com/ny4/djw/genealogy.rwadjw.html
It's possible but I don't know how. I do know that some of my ancestors where from Dutchess Co.
That number is too big to be a DAR membership number.
I know it's it's not a DAR number. The number was on his military pay record. I guess that's what it's called. I'm kind of new at this.
Here's a silly little aside I hope won't annoy anyone. Are your Deuel/Duels any relation to Pete Duel from the TV show Alias Smith and Jones? I had such a crush on him! What a handsome man.
I think we were related to him in some way but I don't remember how. I'll try to find out for sure.
I looked at last night and couldnt find him or his son last night in patriot index off the
dar membership page. But that doesnt mean anything if you have papers that said he
fought in the Rev War.
Have you looked for him like on census records for either one of them.
Ill keep looking allright.

I found Tristram Deuel (the son) on the 1800 and 1810 census records. His father, Benamuel, I haven't been able to find until the 1820 cesus records. (I'm still looking on the earlier ones.) I don't have a DAR number for him.
There are 3 Deuels on the DAR Index. No Duels.

There's a BENJAMIN, JOHN and a WILBER. John has service in New York.

Just because there isn't a Benanul/Benamuel Deuel/Duel on the DAR Index, doesn't mean that he didn't serve...just that no one has become a DAR member using this Patriot.

Good luck on your hunt.
