I also enjoy photographs that are unusual in some sense, and find many that I am interested in on Ebay. I am a little fascinated with the facial hair of the Civil war period up to the 1900's. What confuses me is the inequity of price, without any real difference in condition, value, or composition. I have purchased a few items on Ebay relatively cheaply and then find some sellers who simply believe because an item is old, therefore it must be worth an arm and a leg. A few days ago, I found a seller with 80 pages of items that seemed to be completely over priced, CDVs starting around $20 and up. I did a text only review of the seller's photographs and found that of all the pages of items available, ONE photograph had a bid for $19. I understand that pricing is subjective and those photographs that are identified, or containing "hint" information might be considered worth more, but what is a reasonable price tag for photos of this type? Three examples from auctions. Priced $9.99, $1.00 and $15.00 - can you tell which price belongs to which photograph?
Old, ancient family photo's etc. I became the keeper of the photo's some where along the line. Thanks Grandad you did prepare me a bit.
