My great-great grandfather Charles Reed was born in Gallia County, Ohio, but the family soon moved to Portland, Jay County, Indiana, where he established his family, and where he enlisted in Company F, 140th Indiana Infantry, for the Civil War. He died in Portland in 1920. His father's name was Thomas Reed. I don't know when Thomas Reed died, but I would imagine it was in Portland.
