Hi all-

Thought I'd start a discussion on Pennsylvania Cemeteries. :)
Most of my Fletcher family are in the West Laurel Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA, and a family on my FIL's side is in the Jersey Shore Cemetery in Lycoming, PA.

Has anyone had any experience finding information on the Jersey Shore Cemetery?
thanks!

Hi, Kate.

My lines are Allegheny County (Southside Cemetery, Woodlawn Cemetery, and Mount Royal Cemetery) so I am not familiar with the cemetery you are asking about.

I heard something today, that I wanted to check out. Maybe you know. I was told that if for some reason a tombstone is damaged or knocked over and left unfixed for 2 years, the cemetery is allowed by law to bury it. Do you know if this is the case?

Hi Sally, I cannot believe there would be such a law. If so no cemetery would ever spend the money to repair vandalism if they could just bury the stones. Are not most cemetery lots under perpetual care when you purchase same? Thanks George
Hi Sally-
I've never heard that law before- you may try posting it in the FindAGrave group- :)

Kate
Thanks for the thought, Kate. I will try that.

Michael "Bear" (Baer) d.1818, buried Bedford Co. Any listing of Cemeteries available?
Hi Charles-
On FindAGrave there are 198 cemeteries listed for Bedford County, PA. Do you know where he lived in Bedford County? I looked under "Baer" and "Bear" and there were not any hits for Bedford County for either surname.
In 1810 & 20 the family was in Dublin & Air Twps. The Ohio Land purchase gives Michael as Bedford Co.
Kate,

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. The Jersey Shore Cemetery (1103 Locust Street, Jersey Shore, PA 17740--in Lycoming County) is listed on Find A Grave with 579 interments. Their phone number is (570) 398-1863. Hope that's helpful to you.

I'm just wondering if anyone who can't get to the Jersey Shore Cemetery easily(I live in VA) has requested information from this specific cemetery and had a positive experience?
If anyone is interested in a plot map for Marietta Cemetery, Lancaster County, PA - I have one in a couple of jpg files. It is just a map - no names. The names of the plot owners (NOT the persons buried in each plot - but who paid for them) is available at the Lancaster County Historical Society. You must view there - they will not release it. All I can supply is the plot map.
